For the one or two of you who haven't totally given up on me and updating this thing, why haven't you?

I'm no longer a Sub, I'm a Class Size Reduction Teacher (CSR), which gets the same pay as a sub but doesn't usually get 5:30 am calls. Still playing the WoW, gaming, Brian, and all the usual. Nothing ever changes no matter how much it seems like it does. I've got my x-mas tree, do you? I should include a picture, and perhaps I will if I figure out how to do that....

If I don't come back on, have a wonderful holiday season (whichever holiday you celebrate)!

Squirrels LOVE Nuttella

'Cause its got nuts in it, Duh. Strangely, this did not occur to me when I was putting the food away at the campsite this weekend. Apparently they don't like peaches or tortillas, though. Have you ever seen a giant grey squirrel holding a jar of Nuttella (not just standing next to, but actually holding)? It's an intimidating sight. Boy, it was pissed when I took it away too. "No, little squirrel, that's bad for you", I said. "Chitter Chitter", said the squirrel. "I know it tastes like nuts, but its also full of sugar, you'll rot your tiny teeth", said I, and the squirrel responded, "Chitter chitter chitter". Well, he obviously wasn't seeing reason, and that jar was way to big to squeeze in a knothole anyway, so I took a step towards him to take it away. He *picked it up* and ran with it. "No, little squire", I yelled as I gave chase,"its bad for you!" Fortunately for both of us, the jar was to big for him to lug up the tree, and had to drop it. with a loud "CHITTTTTER!" he dashed up the tree to sulk. When I retrieved the jar, I found that the lid had been gnawed half off (literally), and much of the nuttella licked away by a tiny tongue. The peaches, sitting out in the open, were never touched. They're not made of nuts, after all.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a slacker...

So I was totally going to get back into this thing and then my boyfriend bought me World of Warcraft for my birthday.

I'm subbing now. It is boring, but leaves me much time to pursue fun activities. If only I didn't get phone calls at 5:30 am every other morning *Sigh*. Otherwise I'm good. Went to Dundracon, it went as expected (sucky, but still a con). I'd do that thing where you make it a link and then rant all about it for those who are interested, but I don't know how. Agh, my life is too the same to have new things to say. If you want to hear me whine about things, send me an email. Now I have to return to game before my GM finds out I'm doing this.

Been a long time...

So, er, Hi! I know I haven't been around much, er, at all, for several months, but student teaching is hard, and I had barely enough time to do all the fun things I have to do... Not to say that LJ isn't fun... I should just give up now....

Anyway, I'm done with my student teaching (yes, I'm sending in for my credential as we speak, or you read) so maybe I'll check up on ya'll here more often (I hope). The important thing is that I'm sending out christmas cards and I need your addresses. If you send me your address I'll send you a card (assuming I know you and you're not just passing thru), and I made them myself, so I think they're worth a minute or so of typing.

Anyway, I'm subbing tomorrow, so I've got to go to sleep. Send me your addresses!

Five Hour Drive

So, this weekend was my and Brian's 2 year anniversary (yay!) and he bought us tickets to go see A Perfect Circle in LA. The plan was to drive down two hours before the show, have dinner, and then go watch it, so we gave ourselves a nice window of time as well as the THREE HOURS the drive was supposed to take, south on the 101. In Pismo I knew we'd have some sort of trouble because I could see a giant plume of smoke far off in the distance, but what was the likelihood that it would be right in front of us? Not much. Oddly enough though, it stayed right in front of us as we approached Santa Barbara, and finally, after turning one of the last corners before heading out onto the coast, it _was_ right in front of us. The hillside revealed by the curving mountains was completely black with streaks of orange running through it and a cloud of smoke above, much resembling a mini-volcano. What do you say officer? Use the 154? Okay. Well that didn't sound so bad, just driving up the 154 instead. Oh my, it looks like _everybody_ is taking the 154. Brian and I set a new land-speed record of 24 miles in 2 whole hours!!! Who knew that our special-fun trip would also be a test of our relationship as boredom battled grumpiness and disappointment over the Santa Barbara Mountains. Finally we made it to the 101, and got to our destination by 9, which was just enough time to get our seats, wait around, and watch one of the opening acts for a while, and then sit around while the band set up, but we were ecstatic there WAS an opening act and that we didn't miss the show (which, by the way, was excellent). So, 101 is closed, the 154 is probably packed with traffic or on fire, how should we get home at midnight? I know! let's take the 5! I've never consciously taken the 5 before, but I know it's there, and there were signs on the way talking about it. Guess what, it's not a shortcut. It did however get us home in 4 hours, was not on fire, had no heavy traffic, and involved no detours. Yay! so now I'm incredibly sleepy and Brian has mandated a fun to driving ratio of at least 3:1 based on how long it takes to get downtown and the average length of a movie. After this weekend, I have to agree.

Stupid daylight-thingy. and its still not light out when I ride home from class ('cause it gets out at 8:30). Oh well. Next week is Spring Break 2: The Getting All The Crap Done That I Haven't So Far. Goody. Really I'll have about 4 spare hours a day, which I will use to work on school stuff for the next week (and beyond, hopefully). I haven't done any grading yet... when do I do that? Ohh... can I write some referrals? I know just who to give them to! I think today will be fun. I think I get to block a play, and if I do hopefully my master-teacher won't re-block it when I'm done. We'll see. I have no idea what I'm doing, or at least that's how it feels often enough.

Spring Break Blues

A week ago I thought "It's my Spring Break, and I can do anything! I could jot down to SB for lunch if I wanted to, I could... (all kinds of stuff)". Now my car's broke (kinda, I think), I'm waiting around for the screen people to come by and fix some things which I'll probably have to pay for, I still haven't done my taxes, and I lost my student teaching assignment for next quarter, so only the cruel nasty gods know what will happen with that. Plus spring break is not as much fun when there aren't many of your friends having it. I think I'd rather be working because at least then I'd have some money. I've still got three days, maybe it'll get fun sometime.

And it was for me! Yay! And, despite the best efforts of my friend's roomie it was a total surprise (and a terrifying one at that as I was ambushed by multiple people running at me, yelling "Surprise!!!". I did not, however, wet myself. It was full of video games that I like, and boozes, and fun, and pie, and balloons! It was great. Brian and Marie really put a lot of work into it. All for meeeee!!! It was so much fun, and I forgive those of you who could not make it. ;)

So many books, so little time!

So I have a stack (like, 10) books to read by wedensday for one of my finals. I've had this assignment all quarter, I'm just lazy, and I'm doing all the work now, so obviously I'm not actually reading them, I'm skimming them and its like a whirlewind of good, bad and medium fiction. I'm dizzy. Plus, I started "Ender's Game" and I _can't_ skim it because its so good (I've never read it before). But I'm doin' okay homework wise, so I think I'll be able to finish it before the project is due. I'm jonesin for spring break but I've got to take a test and get CPR certification while I'm at it, so we'll see how that goes.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Its my birday! Yaay! Wish me happy birthday! I'm going to sit on my couch and do homework for my birthday! Yay! I f$%@ed around too much this weekend, and I've got a midterm on Wed. and a project on Tues, so I get Happy Birthday homework until class, which I have to go to because I am getting a study-guid for said midterm, and man do I need it. But I will have Birthday Tea (which is like regular tea but with whipped cream- I put milk and sugar in my tea anyway, so it doesn't spoil it), and tonight I'll go to a family birthday dinner with the rents, so it won't be all work. Also, I got myself a birthday present, that I must brag about! I've lost my 2nd 10% at Weight Watchers. "What the hell does that mean?", you ask, its easy. The first big landmark is to loose 10% of your current weight (in my case that was 19 lbs). Next you loose another 10% of your weight (assuming you need to loose this much), which was 17lbs for me, and then you set a reasonable goal. So, now that I've lost a total of 37lbs from when I started last February, and accived both 1st and 2nd 10%, I'm ready to set my goal! Of course, now I have to be good thru the birthday gauntlet, but that's okay, its practice. Yay me!

I was surprised today when I though "I'm going to look at my friend's journals and see how they made them", and they were all pink! Well, not all of them, but most of them! It was odd, that's all. There's nothing wrong with pink, its just... you know... pink. On the other hand, it just proves that mine is super-cool because its all black with bright colored lines. Not better, just super-cool. Check it out if you haven't before, it will be a nice change from the pink.

My issues are slowly rectifying themselves, and I am no nearly as stressed about them. They're not really done or anything, its just that now my situation is certain and far less troubling, though there are still bad parts to it.
I've got all kinds of problems, but I can't go into them here because they're very dellicate and need time to work out. Sufice to say they're not world-shattering, nor are they the fierce heartbreaking problems of one of my friends. They are the its-really-no-big-deal-BUT-TO-ME-IT-IS kinds of problems that frustrate and anoy but don't really do anything and which you cannot really effect. They are the kinds of problems that make you take long naps even if you're not really tierd and the kind that put you in a generally bad mood even if there's no call for it. They're also the kind that makes it hard to concentrate on your terribly dry chapter that you still have to read for class today, despite your problems, 'cause really they're not that bad and surely someone else has it worse. But not to me. Maybe I'll just skim it.

When I left the health center, I almost fainted. And I'm going to get sick in about a week from it! Now I know why I hate shots!

Uh, Ironic?

You are blessed with FAERY wings. Beauty,
laughter, life, magic...that's what you are all
about. You are refreshingly innocent and happy
with your life of purity and play. Life's a
game and it's a good one. In your eyes there's
no way to lose! You can be very mischeivous and
have been known to cause trouble, but it's all
in the name of fun and not meant to really harm
anyone. You like to play tricks on people who
aren't quite as bright or clever as you - which
is almost everyone. Nature is the setting you
prefer to be in - Always. Barefoot and wild you
can't be tamed. You're probably a restless
spirit who loves to travel, and quite a
dreamer. Your creativity is astounding and your
art (of whatever media - from writing to
painting to drama) is like something from
another world - ethereal and often very
fantasy-oriented. You can either be a social
butterfly or a loner with their head in the
clouds - but rarely inbetween. You stubbornly
refuse to accept responsibility or to give in
to the wishes of others - unless you feel like
it. You have a strong passion for music and
can't imagine life without it. You'll grow up
someday, but you'll always be a child at heart.
You are adventurous and love to take risks, and
feel a deep connection with the weather,
plants, and animals. You prefer sunshine to
thunder or snow, the warmth of summer to
autumn's chill, and quiet forests to suburban
backyards. Magic through and through, you are
far more powerful than you seem, and are
capable of being extremely passionate. Though
you can be childish, naive, stubborn, and
self-absorbed, one thing is certain - life with
you will never be boring!

*~*~*Claim Your Wings - Pics and Long Answers*~*~*
brought to you by Quizilla

Little wicker furniture of delisiousness

(I am drunk right now)
I have had the most delisious thing ever, and mind-boggeling too. It is called, to you mortals (or non-drunk people), "Chex Mix", but to me it is amazing. Not only the taste (which I do understand), but the amazing pillow shapes of the "chex" themselves. How do they weave these tiny delicious things? I imagine that it is the work of tiny little men, but I know that in the morining I will realize the truth, that they are macine-made and factory-seasoned. This is a sad thing, as tiny little men are so much more interesting :( Oh well, such is life. At least the booze was good.

Projects!

I have so many fun projects, where oh where will I find the time? I need to put together a LARP (which hopefully I can hammer out tonight), I have to bring together and SCA household (and see if there's any good wars on the horizon) and a pavilian, run a game, start a game, and do lots of reading. Oh, and finish my bad-ass coat so its not flopped over my craft cart waiting for someone to spill their drink on it. And I have to work on my future SB trip and find out when my play tickets are for + boyfriend time... whew. And go to work in half an hour. Yay, to much to do!

But I don't want to go to class!

And if I do go (which I will, because I have no choice), I don't want to ride my bike! It will be dark and cold, and I have a car. I could drive (well, i'd have to get gas first and then I'd have to pay $2.50 for parking). But riding my bike is free. But it will be sooo cold! But but... Damn it, I hate evening classes!

Does this mean I can burn people?

I am The Sun

In the tarot the Sun symbolizes vitality and splendor. The Sun is definitely not a meek and retiring card. You have total confidence in yourself. You are not cocky, but profoundly sure of your power. You have unlimited energy and glow with health. You have a greatness about you and stand out brilliantly. Finally, you see and understand all that is happening within your sphere. When you see this card, know that you will be successful at all you undertake. Now is the time to let your light shine.

For a full description of your card and other goodies, please visit LearnTarot.com

What tarot card are you? Enter your birthdate.
Month: Day: Year:

Then I shall smile and make it warm! (If by "smile" I mean turn on the heater)
Thank you all for your wonderful book suggestions. I started with Gaiman's "Coraline", recomended by Candace. This will be a fun quarter.
